With a couple travelling bands in town, our session made for somewhat of an adventure at the Off Broadway Studio in Capital Hill, Seattle. There was laughter, there were tears, and all this at the Tully’s before we left!

Tyler started out in his first consultation a few weeks ago without having a clue about what he wanted to wear, etc, but we figured things out pretty fast and he had a great attitude throughout and his images reflect this. Tyler’s mom is super excited about the results, and that was my goal…so I’m a bit happy about this as well! :OD

Fun, Rain, Pom-Poms and a Hoodie

What a trooper! After meeting with Lauren on Main Street Bellevue to start her session, we weren’t sure if the rain would continue or stop…so somehow we managed around a light sprinkle. Main Street always has a nice variety of backgrounds for outdoor images and Bellevue’s Downtown park is just two blocks away.

Next we journeyed over to the Newport HS campus for a few quick snaps and since Lauren had track practice to attend I had just enough time to get some great shots of her having fun on the Newport steps and in the front courtyard. My hat’s off to Lauren for toughing it out…and what great results we had! Check ’em out… -JM

We had a prime spot for Jenna’s Senior Rep session at a skate park and playground just across from Woodinville High. Although we got off to a late start, we managed to get through SIX outfits in less than an hour and a half, and that included three locations, inlcuding the skate park, the high school itself, and a local turnoff with great foliage in the background. “Rock the pink!”

Jenna showed up ready for anything, and that’s what it’s all about! We flew through six outfits in less than 2.5hrs with three makeup/hair changes…so my hat is off to Jenna for being a real trooper! My first time working with Christine, our makeup artist, who does ‘amazing’ work.

“Make a face like there’s a hot guy waving at you,” I had to tell Jenna a couple times, just to get into the mindset. But pulling off that great ‘gaze’ is what sets Jenna apart from many new models I’ve worked with in my recent past. Jenna has a potentially bright future ahead and this was her first official ‘modeling’ shoot…so way to go girl!

Sometimes we meet people who are just amazingly ‘fit’, and Myschon is definitely one of the fittest females I’ve ever seen or met. After she initially contacted me upon signing with Sports Unlimited in Portland, we were able to connect within a week for her FIRST shoot ever!

Weight lifting, Fitness competition, Track & Field, Kickboxing, and overall training are her strong points so I set out to challenge her and bring out the best images possible. There definitely wasn’t a dull moment in today’s shoot after we had hair and makeup ready Myschon was ‘at my fingertips’ and ready to mix n’ match  outfits and some new Adidas boxing gloves she picked up just for this shoot.

Now if you want to talk about the best smile I’ve seen in 2008, this gal’s got it! As it turns out, Nikki is a multiple National Jump Roping Champion, and has a great vertical for a 20-year old natural blonde. What a joy working with Nikki to create her a nice variety of images based on her talents – smiling, athleticism and her great energy. She performed amazing considering our 7:45am start time and outdoor images done at Green Lake where the sign at Super Jock n’ Jill read ’38-degrees’, figuring the temperature was ‘at’ freezing and she was wearing shorts and a sports bra! Way to touch it out Nikki!

She is an absolute natural beauty and a joy to work with, whether it be in plentiful wheat fields of Snohomish, out in the sunflowers, or at the ranch, we had a lot of fun!

Here is a copy of the initial message I received from Polly: “Hi, my name is Polly Tam. I’m 23. Never done any type of professional photography session before. I’m looking for just fun, artsy, classy, and of course beautiful photos of me to send off to family, friends, and just for personal keeping. I’m interested in working with you. I saw some of your photos and i like your style. Hopefully we can work together. I Hope to hear from you soon!” After reading this I called Polly and we began to brainstorm, finally selecting about 6 outfits and photographing in Seattle’s beautiful Arboretum, on the water at Madison Park, Belltown and finishing up on the pier at Greenlake. Polly has a large extended family, half of which live in China and really was looking to have someone capture her for who she is…I think we were both very excited about the results!
